About the Chief Strategic Innovation Officer
The CSIO position is three roles in one.
- The CSIO serves as the Director of LATIS. He leads a team of five directors overseeing units supporting research, learning, process improvement, and media services. (Read more at latis.umn.edu)
- The CSIO is also a strategy and innovation consultant for the Dean and other college leaders. As described in the "What we do" section of this website, he provides planning, facilitation, and organizational support for leaders responsible for developing CLA's strategic plans and initiatives.
- Finally, the CSIO wears the IT lead ("CIO") hat for the College of Liberal Arts and is responsible for the effective management of CLA's technology systems and staff. As most IT services are provided by the University's Office of Information Technology and external vendors, the CSIO's main IT role is to advocate for the technological needs of CLA's faculty, staff, and students.
About Jamey
Jamey joined CLA in 2005 and was selected to lead what is now LATIS in 2012. His approach to leadership, strategy, and innovation has been heavily influenced by:
- The Art of Hosting community that creates spaces for participatory leadership and working in complex environments.
- A masters degree from the U in Management of Technology that emphasizes strategic technological leadership, forecasting, innovation management, and product development. Jamey's 2014 capstone focused on the organizational health of CLA.
- An opportunity to participate in a leadership development by MOR Associates that served as an inspiration for CLA's Administrative Leaders Program.
Jamey is the longest serving member of the college's leadership team (the Dean's Group). And he teaches a course on public speaking for the Humphrey School.
